Hướng dẫn thiết lập VPN (Fake IP) trên Windows – Gu Công Nghệ
In times when we encounter limitations on certain features that are not supported in our country, many users resort to the solution of installing VPN (Virtual Private Network) to experience them before they become officially available.
So, what are the steps to set up VPN on a Windows computer? Let’s find out in this article!
Understanding VPN
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a virtual private network, also known as a Fake IP, that allows for a secure connection when accessing public networks such as the Internet or a private network owned by a service provider. It specifically helps to “hide” the actual IP address of the computer when logging in and replaces it with a range of virtual IP addresses.
This solution is often used to grant access to platforms and services that are not officially supported in Vietnam.
Setting Up VPN on Windows
Step 1: Open TAP Windows
- Right-click on the Wi-Fi icon in the corner of the screen and select “Open Network & Internet settings.”
- If you are connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi, go to the “Wi-Fi” section. If you are connected through an Ethernet cable, choose “Ethernet.”
- Scroll down and click on “Change adapter options.”
- The “Network Connections” window will appear, and you will see Surfshark TAP (Ethernet) and Wi-Fi.
- Keep this window open and proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Enable Mobile Hotspot
- Right-click on the Wi-Fi icon in the toolbar and select “Open Network & Internet settings.”
- Click on “Mobile hotspot” and turn it on.
- Below, you will see network information. You can edit the password by selecting “Edit.”
Step 3: Configure VPN adapter
Reopen the “Network Connections” window, and you will see a new network adapter that will be used to connect to the Internet from your Windows PC.
Right-click on “Ethernet” and select “Properties.”
In the “Ethernet Properties” window, click on “Sharing,” check the box “Allow other network users to…,” and choose the network you will use (the Mobile hotspot you just enabled). Click “OK.”
Step 4: Connect to VPN
- Download and open Surfshark (paid), go to “Settings → Advanced → Protocol → OpenVPN (UDP).”
- Connect to your location (US location, for example).
Download Surfshark here.
Step 5: Check the Functionality
- Connect another device to the Wi-Fi network you just created (refer to Step 3 for the network name and password if you haven’t changed them).
- Now, if you visit ipleak.net or any other website to check your IP, you will see your new IP address from the Surfshark server you connected to on Windows.
You can also refer to the video below for a better understanding of the setup process.
Now, all you need to do is connect your devices such as smart screens, smart TVs, gaming consoles (devices that require a Fake IP), and start experiencing the services you want, even if they are not officially supported in Vietnam.
