What is “Đồ si”?
Đồ si, also known as đồ sida, đồ thùng, or hàng 2hand, refers to used clothing, shoes, and bags. These items are imported from overseas in large quantities, then sorted and classified based on quality and condition (new or used) before being sold individually.
The origin of đồ si can be traced back to the 1980s when Vietnam received assistance from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (S.I.D.A) to provide second-hand clothes to the poor and those in need. However, over time, đồ si has become more unique and popular than ever.
While most đồ si items are second-hand and no longer used by others, there are still some brand new, unused, and fashionable items. If you’re lucky, you can find a desirable high-end piece for just a few tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese dong, which is quite exciting, isn’t it?
